SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS ON UTILIZATION OF LONG TERM AND PERMANENT FAMILY PLANNING METHODS IN ZANZIBAR.
The family planning services was launched since 1985 under the Zanzibar Family Planning Project (ZFPP) that aimed to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality. At the same time, the methods were used by small number of women as there was low awareness of family planning and high stigma to women who used family planning. In 1995, there were 104 maternal-child health centres provided family planning services, still contraceptive prevalence remained low that was 6.6% in 1992 (ZFPP, 1996).
